Easy enough on identifying, but how would you grade them?

    Hello

I have been given a collection of coins, some like these relatively easy to identify, but I struggle with grading.
    Can I ask for opinions?

    Many thanks

Looks like a nice collection. Wish I would have had that when I started collecting..... All your coins are honest hard working coins. As a whole most would fall in the "very good" range. Very cool start to a collection.

Okay, here goes. I probably won't make you happy.

1847 Cent VF sharpness, scratched with minor rim bumps, value of a VG.
1843 Cent Good sharpness, environmenal damage, value of an AG
1884 Dime VF-20 sharpness, environmental and minor damage, value of a VG
1873 No Arrows Dime, VF sharpness, environmental damge, value of VG
1886 Dime, VF Sharpness, minor scratches, value of a Fine.

All of the coins have problems, but many old coins share the same problem. That's why some of them have high prices.

Here is an 1853 cent in that is in EF-40. Compare it with the 1847 cent you have.

This 1847 cent has a certification grade by PCGS of AU-58.
