I found this penny in my wife's grandad coin collection from Ipswich, England. Can someone confirm that the attached coin is an old Eadmund silver penny from the year 939 - 946 from a moneyer called DORY LFEM? It looks like its in mint condition, is very thin and measures about 21mm. Color is actually goldish or silverish with hues of blue. How can I verify that it is not a fake? Anybody has an idea of its value?
Here is a better picture of the coin. The original photo was made using a standard point and shoot camera but I had lots of difficulty getting the focus and lighting right. This new photo was simply made using a Kodak ESP 5250 scanner on photo mode. Much better result as you can see.
