I am interested in a coin from an e-bay seller Marconi-Coin. here is one of his auctions to reference him quick. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2015-AMERIC...821394?hash=item5b3990e652:g:q3sAAOSwJH1ZN0~7 My question is that has anyone bought from him and if so what is your opinion on the seller and product you received.
I'm pretty sure I've bought a few from them. I reckon I was happy, because I don't remember a bad experience.
With all due respect; you're looking at something offered on a site well known for siding with buyers even when they're clearly in the wrong. I understand eBay isn't for everyone, and that there's always the chance of anpoor experience, but if this isn't enough to make you reasonably comfortable, perhaps it would behoove you to consider other options. Sometimes paying even a tiny bit more is worth the peace of mind.
The coins doesn't look good, sorry. The dealer even calls it AU 59. I don;t know this dealer but just a quick search pulled up this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMERICAN-EA...480856?hash=item4d5b507358:g:FFcAAOSwc-tY762K same type of money nicer coin.
I've purchased a few Morgan's from them in the past year without issue. I noticed his negative feedback comes from only 2 buyers.
Perhaps I am mistaken, but in saying "here is one of his auctions to reference him quick", it seems the OP was simply providing a link to the seller and not expressing interest in this particular coin.
Yes that link was to reference him quickly. I am actually looking at his Panda's right now. 2 of them have some kind of issue on the reverse side and my questions I sent him went unanswered thus far. They are slabbed and that is why I wanted the CT member's to chime in on any experience they may have had with this seller. I only buy raw panda's from Apmex & Provident but slabbed I go to e-bay.
As you've now experienced, even though completely reasonable, it's best not to post a link to a coin you're not interested in; most don't bother to read. That said, if you're not comfortable, especially with the seller's lack of discourse, perhaps it would be best to search out someone else to buy from.
Here's a few things I do in consideration with coins on eBay. First I look at the seller's feedback, next I check to see if they offer a return policy, then if the coin appears nice I'll check to see if they have sold it before. If they have sold it before, then depending on how much time has elapsed between the last sale and the current offering can indicate a return. A return is not a mark of death, but it is a flag to be aware of. If I still like the coin and the price is right, I'll buy it. If when I get it in hand and I don't like it, that's when the option of returning it becomes viable. Sometimes I'll just keep it and re-list it depending on how much I have into it. In the end, it all comes down to you. Do you like it? If so, buy it. We can give our opinions on the coin and whether or not we think it's a good deal. But most seller's on eBay are pretty good. eBay is your ally as a buyer, so don't fear the seller so much. With that said, there are a small handful of dealers to be leery of, those dealers are outed by their feedback.
