    combo.jpg I made this a rando eBay buy for the stork :D and the clean art deco look. The medal was destined for the 'exonumia' thread on the coin chat board, but realized I know zilch about it. Google-fu points me to a Zeeland aviation club and that may be all there is to it. No artist listed and edge is a blank. 50 mm.

    Know nothing about it, but it is fabulous! Plane, bird, zeppelin - all nicely designed in "art deco" style - what's not to like!! :happy::happy::happy:

    Googled Z. V. L. Scheldevlucht & it came up with several references. Apparently it's Dutch, related to WWI (mentions Sopwith Camel, "Wings of Victory", poppies, etc.) I can't read Dutch, but there is a lot of info & pics.

    This is not a persons name, it's an organization, & the year 1934 seems to be prominent. There are other medals.

    That's all I can offer...:happy::happy::happy:

    That is pretty cool. If I'm reading it right this could theoretically be from the first year as they had a new medal in in 1935?

    ZVL is the Zeeland Society for Aviation (google translation of Zeeuwse Vereniging voor Luchtvaart) and the year 1934, and Scheldt Flight. The first Scheldt Flight of 1934 from that link had a kilo of silver trophy and some bronze medals. Makes you wonder if this is one of them!

    Cool stuff, my google-fu was lacking for some reason. Now I want to find one of the medals from 1935!
