Just for fun, rather than be annoyed, lets post some of the dumbest eBay auctions that you have seen. They can be stupidly priced; ridiculous descriptions; wrong info; or just plain dumb, dumb, dumb. Here, to start us off: One of the dumbest I have seen in a long time: Accusing ANACS of being ignorant: "Rare Coin Error 1813 Bust Half ANACS So rare ANACS doesn't know what it is" He says: 2 Error coin. an error from the Mint and a Big time error from ANACS. 2 possible choices. Either the grading experts didn't see the error which is impossible because how big the error is or the experts didn't know what the error was. My guess is the second. I'm certain it's the biggest error that wasn't mentioned when it was certified. ANACS will probably buy this coin just so they can take it out of the holder so no one knows how big of an error their experts missed. Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Coin-E...251873?hash=item46439fb961:g:FZoAAOSwwbdWMXyU as we all know, it is simply a clashed die, and not mentioned, because the submitted did not ask for it to be labeled, very, very common on this year.
That seller, Hoffer, is funny. He lists coins for $400 all the time, then lowers it to like best offer $150 after a couple weeks when it doesn't sell to a sucker. HOWEVER, what he's trying to do is market his coin in a different way to make it more attractive and interesting to buyers. I have no problem with that. BUT, I think saying "ANACS doesn't know what it is" etc, is just a straight up lie. Call it "uniquely, deeply clashed die with cool backwards letters" or whatever you want to do to make it attractive to buyers if you want, but don't lie. Then again, maybe he doesn't know what it is (but I doubt that).
