Ignore for a moment that this is a Chinese seller, but look at his coins. 4 Trade dollars and one Morgan, I don't know about the Morgan, but I have an opinion about the Trades. Link to seller's items:http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/wsxedc321012
The '75-S date looks rounded at the edges , also mushiness on the feathers , also I never seen chop marks that actually bent the other side of the coin out , just my opinion but I think counterfeit . rzage
Also some of the chop marks are the same on the front and back , why would they mark them more than 1 time . The 2 top wheat sheaths seam a little too strong compared with the others . rzage
What struck me about the 2 1875s was that they have terrible dentils. The 1877s looked better, but then I realized that the tips of the LIBERTY ribbon are pointing incorrectly.I agree about some of the mushiness. If a coin was chopped on a wood surface, there would be a bulge opposite. If on a stone surface, there would be design flattening opposite. Good point about that 'K' chopmark, on both sides. A merchant would have no reason to chopmark a coin twice! Nice pickup! The wheat sheafs look pretty well done, the problem I most often see is loss of detail in the stems, but that can also be due to lapping of the dies, and sometimes how the photo is lit, so I think of it as of lesser importance than dentils or stars.
You're right about the Liberty ribbons points , also see what you mean by the weak dentils they are bad compared to my '75 they're rel bad , but the ribbon is a sure marker for fake I would imagine so I'm gonna report them . Thanks . rzage
And they keep trying to flood our hobby with this crud . And it's not just Trade dollars it's every type and size and country . rzage:headbang:
ZERO feedback..... I don't think so. He hooked up with a buddy in China who said: "You can make a fortune selling to the unknowing Americans. One of them will buy it!!!" Bruce
Looks like he sold one , the '77 I'm not sure but at least he doesn't have anything for sale ....yet . rzage
