I've been watching this auction all week, just watching and not bidding. I need one of these, but a proof 65 is too rich for my blood. It's due to end in about 10 minutes. Can't wait to see how high it goes. This coin is a bit of an exception for eBay. Great eye appeal, and CAC stickered. Enjoy: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290367095949&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:US:1123
Sold for $2,800 just under half of the Numismedia value. Somebody got a deal. And here I sit working to replenish my coin budget. :headbang:
Well it is not what I expected a proof to look like - especially after looking at the ones on heritage. Almost looks like a business strike, but it is just the pictures. Looks much nicer on heritage where in may it sold for 2960.
Yea, that's why I expected it to go for well over $3k.. Another example where a top notch picture would have resulted in higher bids.
I see 1873 Op3 PF65BN listed with a FMV of $3970 w/ no value for CAC http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/prices/2cntpr/pricespfull.shtml What website for Numismedia FMV were you looking at?
Sorry, for some reason I was looking at the closed 3. But, HEY! That SAME coin sold on Heritage for $2990 in May CAC et al - http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=1125&Lot_No=240. Maybe someone is trying to tell you something.
Hey I can hope it comes up again, at a even lower price, when I have the money. A guy can dream can't he LOL Darn shame though, it would have moved me into 5th place.
I knew it was nicer than the eBay seller's pics, from the Heritage sale earlier this year. I'll probably be whining about missing that one for a while. :crying: Just ignore me.
