Doubled Die or MDD???

    Hahaha!!! I was working a box of proof sets today and saw this. I thought it was neat. Think it's a doubled die? hahah!!

    No looks more like Die deterioration doubling it looks quite distorted the letters not MD or DD. The fields also have an orange peel effest a dead give away for die wear yours has serious die wear

    I will go DD as several letters have split serifs, and looking at the "90" part of the date, it appears even depth, Planchet appears normal for issue.

    Probably worth an extra $10-20 dollars on Ebay if you describe it well :)

    More like double struck. Still love to see double on anything. Maybe I need new glasses. LOL

    I think it is 3-D. Just don't have a pair of those special glasses to verify.

    Wow, the first one here in ages.

    altho, some may say it is PD (Print doubling) vs MD.
