I have to ask what others think about this as I am sure that I am not the only one who is a bit sickened by what a few sellers claim to be Doubled Dies. I have dug through the listings (and past sales) of one seller in particular and am amazed at what this person actually claims to be selling.... and even more so about what people are paying him. Just a quick look at the photos show clear strike doubling or die deterioration, but they keep on selling and he/she has a 99+ percent feedback rating. Just was wondering how others feel about this. Caveat emptor!
If your talking about the Lincoln DDO/DDR I a lot folks are holding on them, hoping there the new 1995 DDO.Ebay do not know,I know what few I have I holding on too. a few folks maybe like me and never open box or the roll's the were from the US Mint.I know the only one I open have been bank roll, that a buddy has a box of P&D gotten
eBay is the worst site in the world for people selling junk as eBay is the worst site in the world for people selling junk as true die varieties. I have warned them, called them down, watched them and been amased to say the least - they have no shame. On many occasions new people interested in die varieties have brought me coins thay got on eBay only to be told they have mechanically doubled coins. I have seen the light go out of thier eyes and the interest they once had gone in a flash because of these idiots on eBay. Shame on them they will one day pick up the tab for selling junk and ruining peoples interest - I have given up on eBay and almost given up here several times.
I too have notice this activity happening not only on e-bag but also at coin shows. Pretty sad when a so-called dealer has no idea what their selling.
Ebay is an easy forum to sell junk as gold, whether it be counterfeits or whether it be mechanical doubling called something it is not. If only there were blog posts open to all ebay members on all auction pages to help people get the word out and give people who don't know a little bit more information to then decide for themselves.
