I have a 1993 one dollar bill that has George Washington printed on both sides, front and back. It looks like there might have been too much ink while printing the front that caused about 80% of the black ink images and writings to go all the way through to the back, creating a VERY clean mirror image of the front onto the back (George Washington is facing to the left on the back). Or it may be left over ink from the next sheet transferred to the back of this sheet. I got it in circulation by chance a few years ago and its in pretty good (A-/B+) condition. Just curious if anyone has an idea as to how much this dollar bill could be worth or how I could find out. Thanks.
This is what I came up with according to my standard catalog of United States paper money. The note is a offset printing. Face to back. The pic in the catalog looks just like twoGeorges picture. The discretion of this error is as follows. An ink impression of all or part of the face design transferred by some part of the printing press in a mirror image to the back of the noted. Value depends on the percentage of the whole design and the darkness of the impression. The darker the better. Value for 100% offset printing: VG 20.00, VF 30.00, BU 80.00 My catalog is a bit old (2001) so the prices may be different at this time. Lou
Lou,that note is also better known as a wet ink transfer error,as it has the details from the front of the note below it that was in the stack on the back, hence the portrait having a reversed appearance to it. TwoGeorges, welcome aboard. You have got a very good & collectable banknote there. Aidan.
Wasnt that our Mints first attempt at making a two dollar bill? just kidding of course. Great find.. Not into the paper side of collecting but that one would of caught my eye and pulled from circulation.
