Today's pick ups are a bit out of the norm for me. I tend to not pay much mind to error coins, but these just struck me as pretty interesting. I saw them yesterday while in the LCS and figured I'd mull it over in the evening. Well, I still wanted them this morning, so... I went back and got them!

Probably the coolest errors I've gotten so far, but I don't really have the bar set very high on what I've gotten before. My previous "best" would probably be a partial delaminated planchet on a Morgan, and it's a pretty small spot at that. But these two... I am liking these two!

Just wanted to show these off and see what you all think. While it doesn't look it, the V nickel has lots of original luster, especially the reverse. It's just covered up with some grime so that'll probably get a nice little acetone bath once the weather here breaks for the warmer. But I'm definitely happy with today's purchase!

Ha! The first two pictures look like Miss Liberty is missing most of her face! She goes from forehead to bottom lip LOL!

Here's some different pictures not from my scope. Shows the shiny just a little bit better, but a little more blurry. 20250227_132742.jpg 20250227_132749.jpg 20250227_154658.jpg 20250227_154611.jpg

If I dealt with the same coin shop I would have bought them. Glad you got them.

He's got an IHC out for grading currently (I forget the year) but it was double struck on center, hardly rotated, and in great condition. I asked how much he wanted for it (before he sent it) but he said it wasn't for sale... yet.

He has a small shop and cycles through his inventory relatively quickly. What he doesn't sell, he auctions on the fleabay at $1 no reserve and lets it fly. If you're in Southeastern PA I can give you the shop name. As far as I'm aware, the only member near me is Lehigh, and he probably already knows about this place.

Neat Jefferson. I have a Clamshell silver war nickel around here somewhere. It's still a split planchet just not a full separation.
I will look for the photos.

He actually had a clamshell V nickel available, too, but I ran out of money on these two.
