Hi Everyone, I have written in another post of the opportunity to find some nice coins at coin counting machines at suppermarkets, banks etc...

In my job I travel all around Md. Va. Wash. D.C to service supper markets.
Almost everyday I see someone holding a jar ,can,or some kind of large container with coins they have tossed . With the economy the way it is people are now cashing in on all those years of just throwing loose change into their make shift PIGGY BANKS!

I had a small can in one of my kitchen draws that held $30 worth of quarters. When the state quarters started I would toss everyday after work the state quaters from my pocket into this can. After it was filled the first time ...I dumped it into a lager container I had in my walk in bedroom closet. My wife said one day to me they had to go! I took them to the bank to fing out I had over $900.00usd in state quaters.

Now back to my story: Do your self a favor and check the coin counting machines when you see one. I got lucky this passed Thursday at one of these machines! I will post a picture of my find. I have another friend who also services super markets. He showed me one day his find. He really hit the jackpot...as he came up with 8 Morgans 6 Ikes several half dollars and some Foreign coins.

The Machines are set up to pennies ,nickels ,dines & quaters. Larger coins don't make the cut nor do forgein coins. I now make it a habit to check the machine everytime I see one. On Thursday I saw a young guy dumping coins in the machine. After he had gone I walked by the machine and saw a pile of the coins the ones I have posted. Now he must of checked the hopper but foreign coins and coins made from zinc the machine rejects. Guessing he did not want the coin due to being rejected he left them sitting on the machine and exited the store. Thus my find....!

Make sure you check the hopper like I said larger coins don't go through...and sometimes you can pick up a nice 30mm or larger coin.

Have a look at my Thursday hull. 1960 1 Franc, 1992 Figi 2 cent piece, a 1995 New Zealand 5 lizard coin,1985 Canadian dime, and best is last a very nice 1943 U.S. steel penny about F to XF with no rust or pits!

Please post any finds you come accross checking the coin counters.
I love to know if this thread has produced and nice finds for you as this knowage has done for me. Good luck and keep looking it will pay off! Regards Paddy:smile

    Interesting, and congratulations.

I only get to the supermarket once or twice a week at the wife's behest, but since Coinstar's founding in 1991 I have checked every machine I pass, and have never found so much as a cull Lincoln in the reject slot!

The includes yesterday afternoon, because I'll never stop looking (and hoping).

I always do too. Found a 64 dime a couple of weeks ago right next to a plastic play quarter with copy stamped in it.

I found a Canadian coin, and some local car wash tokens the other day.
