Well my bank has like this money bin of money I guess that won't fit into a roll and very, very old circulating coinage. So they said they had these large cents (Canadian) and they would give them to me for a cent each and they are some other very old coins. Does your bank do this?
LOL.....Road Trip. I know of no banks doing this Tristen. My advice would be to scrape your penny's/cents together and go do some shopping......
Sounds like you stumbled into a deal no one in their right mind would refuse, Tristen! My advice: take whatever you can get, and DO NOT tell any of the locals the deal you are getting!!!
We're lucky our banks give out the free toasters for opening a new account with them. Oh wait, they haven't done that since the 70s.
Great advice from quarter. DO NOT tell anyone local. I have NEVER heard of a bank doing this and I've been collecting for over 25 yrs.
Thank you Fran I have been collecting a long time as well. Many years ago when I was living in California my teller at the local BofA would save all her obsolete coins and obsolete bills for me. I received several obsolete (worn) nickels & dimes & fondly remember the times I received a $50 gold certificate & a $20 Hawaii overprint. The coins are long gone. The bills are still in my collection and grade something like VF condition. The teller's name was Fran.
I'm assuming the bank just had somebody bring in some old coinage, knew the OP was a collector, and offered it to him. And obviously they would have to offer the stuff at face. Many banks do this if they know you're a collector and they know you well.
