Does this slab look like it's been tampered with??

It looks to me like it's been cracked open and glued together again. Maybe the coin was even switched out to a lower graded one? I don't know but something doesn't look right.

    What do you think?

In case you skipped over this when looking up your serial#:

If the information displayed above is incorrect or does not match the coin you are verifying, or if you believe that you have a counterfeit or tampered NGC holder, please contact ConsumerAwareness@ngccoin.com.

Where are you seeing that? No picture comes up for me, as it is an old holder.

There are no pictures of the actual coin though. If you click on coin explorer, it just shows you an example of that coin, not the actual one in that slab.

Umm... look closer. The OP hasn't given us much to work with, I understand, but a close comparison with what we have should suggest otherwise.

So looks like I screwed up (again) I thought "view" was of the actual coin! Why the heck would they show you a random coin when you want to see the one that you are interested in? Guess I'll have to edit - darn it!

Coin explorer shows plate coin examples for the series just like Coin Facts does for PCGS

Since it's an old holder is it possible they did a sloppy job gluing it?

NGC doesn't glue them they're sealed. If someone glued it together you'd be able to slice it with a knife and separate the two pieces.

From your pictures it looks alright, there should be a seem around it where it had to be sealed.

What is causing you concern with it?

They actually use a sonic welder to seal the slab, not glue.

It looks like it's been super glued together. This is normal where it looks like glue is being pushed outwards and the air bubbles? My other slabs don't have it.

I should go eat some real food. I've only eaten fruit for a few weeks and it's starting to make me go into a food coma.
