    I hope it does.. lol

If I were to try to put a circulated set of wheaties and indian heads ( minus any variations) How much would it cost me ballpark?

I will be looking for one coin of each year and not focusing on any variations that were made if any years had multiple versions of the one cent

I love the look and history of the indian head

Grey Sheet for a complete set of Indian Head Cents (plus 1857 & 1858 Flying Eagle Cents) in Good - Very Good is $1,975. The 1877 and 1909-S represent more than half of the total.

Grey Sheet for a complete set of Lincoln Cents (including Memorial Cents through 1972) in Good or Better (no 1922 Plain) is $1,225. The 1909-S VDB and 1914-D represent 71% of the total.

What Hobo said. Those numbers represent G-VG sets so if you want a little nicer coins... it gets more expensive.

There is another 1909 so I will be happy with that one and the 1877 will be the last one I get.. might be a great Christmas gift for myself.. lol Looks like the late 60's and early 70's are the Indian heads that will be the toughest to find.

As for the Wheaties looks like at least one version of each year can be had very cheap

    Dan,

Grey Sheet is a price guide used by coin dealers and lists the Buy & Sell wholesale prices for coins. Those prices DO NOT typicially represent what a dealer will pay you for your coin or what he will sell you a coin for. They are wholesale prices. If you are buying a coin (or coins) you should expect to pay a higher price than that quoted in the Grey Sheet.

IHCs (Indian Head Cents were struck from 1859 to 1909. The 1877 IHC is the key to the series. Grey Sheet for the 1877 in Good is $700. All IHCs were struck in Philadelphia until 1908 when San Francisco began striking Cents. The 1908-S and 1909-S IHCs are more rare than the Philadelphia-struck 1908 and 1909 IHCs and therefore are more expensive. Grey Sheet for the 1908-S & 1909-S IHCs in Good are $82 and $525 respectively. If you leave out the 1877 and the two San Francisco IHCs Grey Sheet for the set is $668 (including the 1857 and 1858 FECs).

Lincoln Cents have been struck since 1909. From 1909 to 1958 the Lincoln Cent had the Wheat Ear reverse. The keys to the series are the 1909-S VDB (San Francisco mintmark with the designer's initials on the reverse) and the 1914-D (Denver mintmark). If you only want a date set (i.e., one coin from each year) the price would be much less than the complete set.

hobo and LostDutchman are giving you the prices for every coin from every mint. That does not sound like what you are asking for. I am not sure if you are counting the 19 and 09 VDB as 1 or 2, but the only coins you would have any problems getting for +- $1 would be the 09 (& VDB?) and the 1922 (as in a 1922-D) through 1929. 1930 and on, 25¢ to 50¢ should get you a nice coin. I would say you should manage a complete year set of wheats for $60 to $75.

thanks hobo.. that makes alot of sense now.. I appreciete you taking the time to explain. I am in Ontario Canada and it might be tougher for me to find some of these but when I finish the last three Canada one cents I need then I think I am going to tackle the Indian heads and wheaties. Sounds like it will be a fun set to do.

Good luck putting your collection together! It's a lot tougher than you think.

It is tough....especially where you'd want to put together a nicely matched set. Nothing comes easy in this hobby.....except putting good money into bad. Knowledge is key. You don't want to buy any old coin to put in your set....you'll want a nicely matched set, which can take time. If you are giving yourself 1 year, you better look at alot of coins in that year.
