    Even though this may be PMD, I would be curious as to what would cause this. It's a very clean cut and that takes some doing. Could this have gotten stuck in the machine that made it? It takes a lot of tonnage to do this, not the sort that happens in coin sorting machines. Even someone with a chisel would have a hard time making such a clean cut and to what end. Hang on to it and see what a dealer might come up with. It could be that another coin with another problem came out behind this if it is a mint damaged coin.

    Post Strike Damage. note the beads have been pushed to one side in that area. That means the coin was struck normally before the damage occurred that pushed the beads over.
