    hi,

    i just got a 1964 half dollar in the mail from ittleton

    this half dollar is plated with 24kt gold...

    does this affect it...

    what are your guys thoughts,

    Gold plating a coin destroys its value to a knowledgeable collector but it may be very attractive to others.

    I think this sort of thing is OK as a novelty item, as long as it's done to common coins. I have a set of Westward Journeys nickels that include both gold-plated and colorized versions. They're interesting to look at.

    I would NEVER do this to a valuable coin. I agree that it destroys any numismatic value any coin may have.

    I cant stand gold plated coins. I think there gross. No offence to you fellas that like them,. I am not a fan.
