Not sure why the r grabbed my attention. On this recent pick up.

In person the leg looks extremely thin. Compared to the rest of the r

This is a 40% 1976. Bi ike the r is in american

    It's a variety, Type 1 vs Type 2.

Follow this link to the Ike Group to read about it.

The site is free to use, just need to check the agree button at the bottom of the first page, and it should take you to the variety page for your coins date.

If you have a Red Book it's in there too on the Ike pages.

Thanks for trying to help. I'm aware of the varietys and off the site you suggested. I usually check there first about ikes. Before asking here. Since its a. Unc 40% 1976 s. It has to be a type 1. I'm not asking what variety it is. Trying to figure out why that r and only that r looks odd to me

Krispy explained this, it was a re-design of the same coin year and same coin.

Does the "R" in "DOLLAR" look like that too??

The tail of the R is straight on Type I coins and curved on Type II coins.

Because you are looking to hard.

Both R's look the same to me.

And for the record, the Type 1 Reverse for the BiCentennial coins is SANS SERIF while the Type 2 Coins have Serifs.
