I am relatively new to collecting and I haven't purchased any sets from the mint yet so I have a question regarding the quality I should expect. Many people have complained about the quality of the proof sets they receive from the mint. Most of the complaints revolve around scratches or blemishes. When the mint sells a proof set do they guarantee the set is perfect quality, PF70.
The big secret about dealing with the mint is to not be shy about calling to complain. When calling be obnoxious and ask for a supervisor if you are not getting what you want. They will give in if you are obnoxious to them. Also if you purchase more sets than you want you can return the bad ones and you won't have to wait for the return postage. If you do this figure about a third will be defective ( in other words buy 12 if you want 8 and send 4 back).
