The obverse of this coin shows what appears to be a seated person wearing a headdress of some sort. His right arm is raised as if picking something from a nearby tree. A building is in the background. Reverse contains words only. Perhaps "Vale Doria" in the center; words at rim appear to be _ _ _ADODECARTA GENE_ _ _ .
Hey, I found it! It's from Cartagena, Colombia. Saw one on the Rondomon website; the obverse is very similar, but the reverse is not. This one waaay predates the 1812 I saw at Rondomon. So very cool.
Listed in KM as #D1, Colombia-Pre-Republican-Cartegena 2 Reales. Struck with ND(1811) and dated from 1811-1814. If authentic, the ND catalogs at $5 in G and $15 in VG.
