    has anyone ever seen a silver and gold indian head penny? i have one and was curious if it was a mistake or not

    Based on your description it sounds like a coin plated for jewelry. But if you can - post a pic.

    im not getting a very good picture of it at all ill try to get one posted but it looks the same as a regular indian head only silver and the head is gold its dated 1906 i compared it next to a regular 1906 and its the same

    I agree with GDJMSP it was most likely for jewelery.

    There are a few indian head cents known struck on quarter eagle planchets. Being struck on a silver dime is also possible. However the VAST majority of these are just plated coins with no collector value. A quick check of the weight will tell you. On a dime planchet weight would be 2.5 grams, regular cent or plated 3.11 grams, quarter eagle planchet 4.18 grams.

    Most likely just a dicorative thing as noted for jewelry purposes.
