Does anyone know what this is? Pretty cool whatever it is

Does anyone know what caused this? Only reason why I ask is because I have found it before and thought it was damaged so I never kept it, but I found something very similar in better condition and this one has some kind of shine to it. Is this a plating issue? Man this is cool whatever it is because it seems like the combination of the copper shine and the grey dull shine in some lights, almost looks like it's outshining the copper. That's interesting, actually. Are we seeing the underlying zinc core, there? Is this a plating issue? Or heat damage of some kind? I don't know.

In your first picture, there are some circular marks and abrasions on the high points, so it does appear to be PMD. But that's pretty unusual looking. I haven't seen one like that before.

I was thinking that it could be a scientific experiment of some kind if it were to be pmd. I kinda want to remake this lol

Could be. I dunno how you'd replicate that, though.

It kind of looks like what happens when you take lighter and heat the coin then clean the black soot off. Yes I have done that out of curiosity.

You are correct. Somebody messing around with hest and or chemicals. Not a ender

Looks like maybe somebody just rubbed it to death. Like if you rub a zincoln long enough you could rub the copper plating right off. That's what it kinda looks like to me anyways. Maybe take another one and see if you can replicate this by rubbing it between two fingers for awhile.

It might be helpful if you posted a link when you say things like that.

That said, the coin to which you refer does not, in my opinion anyway look like yours. Yes, it is similar, I'll grant that much. But your coin has circular marks on it the coin Fred commented on does not have.

I think the coin you have has been manufactured (intentional alteration) to look that way.

It only has those circular marks on one side and it reminds me of that coin machine circular mark. But I am open to your opinion not sayig you are wrong but that's what it looks like. Also why I am trying to see if it's as shiny as mine haha. See if they have direct similar or almost similar traits

It might only have them one side because whoever did it did a better job on one side than the other.

But from what I can see it's an alteration in my opinion. That and $10 will get a ya cup of coffee at Starbucks.
