Just wondering if any one knew off the top of their head if they Philly Mint was currently giving tours. My wife and I will be passing through the first week of Aug and thought it would be fun to stop there. With all the security rules in place I didnt know if any one had been there recently that could give us a heads up on what we would need to look out for or do in preperation for taking a tour. Thanks for any answers / advice
I did read that and Plan on calling them tomorrow. But I noticed it says when we are at code orange tours are closed. Just wondered if any one had been there in the last weeks or month that might know for sure.
I stopped through there about two weeks ago and had to wait all of 30 seconds before being allowed in. There is a security screening / metal detector, but it goes MUCH faster than an airport. You can't go down on the floor where all the machines are working, but you get to walk through a hallway above the floor that's enclosed in glass. You can see everything.
i always wanted to visit philly. sorta weird i never visited and we are in the same state, just drove through. i gotta make a day or two out of it and visit some of the historical stuff in that city, plus the mint. hope you and your wife have fun, and most importantly can get in!
Philly is a fun place to visit. If you're here, you ABSOLUTELY MUST visit the Mütter Museum! http://www.collphyphil.org/MUTTER.ASP And Tony Lukes for the best cheesesteak a local will let you know about. http://www.tonylukes.com/
