Does anyone know if the CAC (collectors acceptance consortium) has a website?

I'd like to see a picture of their stickers if possible. Thanks!

And just how is the value supposed to be increased by hiding a large part of the coin???????

hontonai, I was thinking the same thing. What's the use of having a 1886 S Morgan dollar if can't even see the "S".

lol, the red reverse sticker is meant to be removed. The red thing is a foldout with info on the CAC, but the pouch it is in is easily removed. The green hologram oval on the front is their official mark.

    P.S. Zane their website is:

I personally have a hard time accepting CAC and their function.

Mostly my reason for this position revolves around the fact that there's no industry-wide grading standards.
I see it boiling down to an opinion (CAC's) of an opinion (a respected TPG's.)

What does CAC do if they feel a coin has been undergraded by a significant amount?
For instance, the slab says VF-30 but they see the coin as XF-40.
Probably won't happen often, but do they just put their A-level sticker on it?

I can extrapolate this out to another organization rendering their opinion (for a price) of CAC's opinion.
    Ridiculous?
Look at all the upstart TPGs that are grading everything MS-69 and -70.
I call that ridiculous, but ....

Yes it is. However what we will see is people willing to pay extra for the stickered slabs.
My question is: can the green sticker be removed and placed on another slab ?

Anybody who wants to put some stickers on your slabs, just send me some cash and I'll send you some stickers. ;)

Will you back up your stickers with a sight-unseen bid?

    Question

This seems like a reasonable question. Just wondering if anyone knows. can the stickers be removed without damage and used again on another slab? If so I can see this happening frequently.

Can't say for sure since I have yet to see one in person, but I doubt it. Most holographic stickers are made in such a manner that if removal is attempted then the sticker is damaged.

Yes that's what I think too. I couldn't make it to the Connecticut CoinFest. They were offering their service for free. The next skeptical question I have is, how easy would it be to make fake stickers?

Probably about as easy as it is to make fake coins. And there are millions and millions of those.

More crap for people to make money from other people's hobbies. Don't even get me started on 3rd party grading. Now we have what amounts to 4th party grading. Next we'll have a sevice that authenticates whether or not the capsule has been tampered with. After that we can have a service that grades the capsule too, based on nicks and scratches that obscure the coin. I made the mistake of getting several coins certified at one point (remember my post about the laminated Franklin?). I finally decided that I want to collect coins, not glorified tupperware containers.

    AAAAAAAAAAAARRRGH!!!!! NOT AGAIN!!
So their website says"a group of concerned collectors"(unamed,of course) gonna save us from those" bogey mans" out there. Of course for a nice little piece of the action!
When will it all end? When we all get together and boycott these unneeded "@#$#@&***" (sorry, can't think of any nice names!) More likely the end will come when these people rip off enough of the coin buying public that coin collecting has such total disreputable stink about it all that few will participate. Yeah I think wer'e heading there, but it will take a while. Just look at all those eager fish out there on e-bay buying all that JUNK!

It's headed by John Albanese and I believe Mark Feld is involved intimately as well.
