I have been collecting Euro coins from each country. A few years ago I stumbled on one of the 10 Euro Proof coins (Antonio Canova) from San Marino which is now my Avatar. I fell in love....and since then I have collected all the Proof silver 5 and 10 Euro San Marino coins. The designs on these coins are amazing. One thing that attracts me to these coins, besides thier beauty is the limited amount of coins that they release. The only ones I still need are those from 2004. Anyone else collect these? Robert
I've been collecting some of the Euro coins but only those that were minted for circulation. Please post some photos of your San Marino & other Euro proofs. Very best regards, collect89

I am still trying to get a full matching set of the basic 1c to 2e SM coins never mind trying for any of the others LOL the prices some of them go for is prohibative to say the least.
i prefer this coin (which i dont have) from san marino, one of my all time fav and i cant stop being obsessed with it, pic is from jaceravone album
When you get them directly from the San Marino Mint they are not too expensive (Not any more than buying say US Commerative coins). I did find some on ebay for reasonable prices. Here is a link to the San Marino Mint website, if anyone is interested. They have pictures there too, but I will try taking some pics of my coins later and post them. http://www.aasfn.sm/english/english.htm click on Numismatic down below on the page. Robert
Yes, I have several San Marino coins, primarily euro pieces. And while I focus on the circulation and commemorative coins, I also have some some of their collector coins. Some I bought simply because of the design, sometimes it's the theme that I find attractive. What I also find interesting is when two or more countries issue pieces on the same occasion but with different designs. For example, when San Marino issued the Canova coin, Italy issued one too. This year, Germany issued a €10 collector coin dedicated to Kepler's Astronomia Nova - and San Marino just issued a €5 piece on the same occasion. Unfortunately the collector coins from San Marino (and also Italy) cannot be had at face - as in the US you have to pay much more than the nominal value. Also, euro collector coins are legal tender in the issuing country only. That does of course not apply to the "real" euro coins. Christian
Thanks for the info. I did not know that euro collector coins were only legal tender in the issuing country, but I don't think I was ever going to use my 10 euro silver proof coin from San Marino to buy coffee at the train station in the Netherlands anyway, I am just keeping it for its beauty. When I was in San Marino I found a circulating 1€ from San Marino, now my aunt found a 1€ 2009 circulating, but the only problem it's that I have to go there to bring it to my collection. This year I went to AASFN and I almost buy a silver 10€ proof, but i decided to buy the old san Marino coins...
