I always thought the green ASE boxes were pretty slick, but had no idea just how common they are until recently. Even with 500 coins sold in each one, with mintages in the many tens of millions that's a lot of boxes. I've always thought the Canadian monster boxes were the best. Extremely rugged and in real bright colors. They are color coded for commemorative silver coins, so not all of them are the same color even for one ounce silver coins. Naturally, for every box that gold coins came in, there are probably a hundred out there that silver coins came in. Anyway, here's my real question: I have five of the monster boxes for the United States 2016 Platinum 1 Ounce coins including the coin tubes. All of the coins went to the slabbers and the boxes and tubes are completely empty. The boxes are white, have a sticker with year and product information, and each holds 100 coins. Each box is about the size of a carton of Lucky Strike cigarettes. Last year's mintage of the same coin was less than 4,000. With that in mind, the small group of boxes represents perhaps 15% of the total mintage. Do you suppose they are worth anything? I keep thinking about cancelled dies and how the mint nearly had to give those away 10 years ago, and then a secondary market developed etc. Anyway, would love to hear what you all think...,,
Jump over to eBay and search "monster boxes." There are a few folks who are trying to peddle empty boxes, some with the tubes, for about $11 to $100.

I use the blue ATB 5 oz. boxes to store coins after I empty them, one box holds 30 graded 5 oz'ers. The second box has 50 BU 5 oz'ers and a 100 silver eagles.
