Hey cointalk, I have read threads that deal with pocket pieces, and I know that many people carry them. Post pics of pocket pieces & don't forget to tell us the history behind the pieces. This is my pocket piece for now: ( my friend etched his name on the obverse see if u can find it)
I carry in my wallet a San Marino silver 1991 1,000 lire coin that has a hand holding a dove. 1 of the 7 topical/themed coin collections I collect are "coins with hands" and this coin I carry has a great hand design. the coin I carry is a duplicate #2. my other 1 is in my collection. the coin I carry is in an plastic airtite to protect it from getting scratched. great conversation piece too. these pics are off Ebay, i have not had time to photograph mine yet... at least you know what it looks like.
78 Ike, it was among my mother's things I went through when she passed a couple years ago. Not sure why she kept it...
she probably kept it because she might have been affraid to try to spend it in fear that the store owners might not have accepted it. or she might have liked it to keep. or maybe someone she liked gave it to her and she wanted to keep it in memory of them ?
I carry this to help me get through rough times. It is from a painting by a Canadian artist and it's entitled "Stormy Weather".
No pics but a 1922 Peace dollar. It's been way overdipped and looks like chrome, has a deep scratch down Liberties face, and I would call it AU53.
1995 ASE with 360 degrees of exquisite rim dings. http://s1270.photobucket.com/user/hermit_the_surly/media/CAM00144.jpg.html?sort=3&o=11
I carry a 2001-p silver eagle is well worn at this point but became a pocket piece in the 1st place because of a scratch on the rev (hell I paid melt at the time big $8 lol) bought 10 and didn't really inspect em as well as I should have but was just buying "silver" not real coins
