No because today, right now, PCGS shows 779 2014-D SP70's and 922 2014-S in various levels of SP70. I can't even find the 2014-P listings.

The article was a bit premature but then the industry is desperate attempting to push interest in these sets which just don't seem to be selling from the US Mint any longer due to a double lowering of the "Mintage Limits"

No, but I don't collect moderns.

Mint seems to care more about quantity than quality.

No, I don't find it interesting. What I find interesting is the number of people who are willing to shell out the ridiculous prices for these coins.

I don't do proofs anymore, and the SP are basically proofs in my mind. So, while I like the design and collected Kennedy's for many years, I wont be buying any of these SP or Proof coins. Still, article provided a few interesting points.

I had no interest in getting the Kennedy at the ANA show in Chicago, just wasn't worth it. I do collect Silver Proof sets, so for $54.00 & Shipping I received a Proof Kennedy and 13 other Proof coins. A better deal, I believe.

2014 coins which grade SP63/64? I think that's interesting... really thought they would all grade 69/70 nowadays.

I am sooo stupid as I have once again confused these with the 4 coin Silver Set.

As for the 2 Coin Set?

The answer is as easy as looking at the population reports and identifying all the MS/SP69 and MS/SP70 Kennedy Half Dollars that exist between 1964 and 1974.

If you find any, please share.

In this day and age it is easy to forget that the US Mint went to a low relief coin in the 80's where the MS68 became more readily attainable and then again in the 2000's where MS69 became possible.

I disagree with JP Martin about the planchets being the problem as I believe that the problem, which has been the problem all along, has simply been the relief of the coin combined with the CnClad Planchet Hardness. Heck, even the softer 1964 Proof Kennedy's are nearly devoid of PR70's! And those received multiple strikes.

Personally, I think anybody that walked away with an SP68 from that 2 coin set did Great since I would personally LOVE to have an MS/SP68 anything dated between 1964 and 1974 in a non-proof coin.
