Seller claims to have a backstory to it. My question is, do you think any of the tpg's would find this Market Acceptable and would slab this one? https://www.ebay.com/itm/195521282598?
As long as it exhibits no environmental damage I think it should grade . . . keep in mind that all graders have their own perspectives and prejudices.
Does it matter? Do you like the coin? My opinion, anybody else's opinion, and the opinion of a TPG really doesn't matter.
I think it will grade, but as what? Pictures are not particularly good for making a serious judgement.
Let's say it grades and comes back EF. You have spent $300 on the coin, IDK how much for the slab, and it's a $44 coin.
I's definitely crusty. They might give it a 97. Environmental damage. It all depends on the surfaces. I would gamble on it but not at that price.
I don't think I would purchase the coin for any other reason other than liking the coin as it is. And, if I did like the coin it would have to be cheap, real cheap.
I'm inclined to believe the seller's story, but I think this is off in Environmental Damage territory. Not "market acceptable", from what I can see.
The pictures spend more space on showing the old wallet than the coin. That’s not a good sign. You would think the seller would have posted close-ups of the coin. Leather is usually not kind to coins.
Just my thoughts, but it would come back details- questionable color. Certainly not worth the $300 plus grading fees gamble.
I wouldn't call that coin "BU", and I certainly wouldn't want it, and DEFINITELY not at that price! 1924 is a very common date. I MIGHT be interested at that price if it graded MS-65 or higher, but I just don't like the toning.
Suggestion to seller, get it into a straight graded holder, then ask for hundreds of $$. Until then it's the proverbial "pig in a poke."
