Do you see a Ghost 7 ? NJ Quarter

    Not sure what I'm seeing but it looks like a "ghost" 7 on the back of this New Jersey Qtr. What do you think? MM

    There is certainly one there - how about a pic of the whole coin ?

    Ghost 7 nj qtr. Coin + 200x mag

    Best I could do. Can't see much on the coin photo, maybe the 200x magnification can help someone identify. MM

    It's not the close-ups I was after - I was curious if there was anything else on the coin. I know some folks like the close-up pics - but I seem to see more just by looking at the whole coin. It kinda looks like there is something on the 8 and the 1 too. If so - I would be inclined to think mechanical doubling - but it doesn't have the usual shelf-like appearance.

    Hopefully Jason or Mike will come along soon - they know far more about errors than me.

    Peculiar, especially if the doubling is restricted to this one digit. It's hard to say what kind of doubling this is without a close inspection under a microscope. It doesn't appear to be one of the common forms of doubling, i.e. strike doubling or die deterioration doubling.
