Do you re-roll?

I'm just curious as to how others do it, especially if you get boxes.

When in boxes, coins are mint wrapped, so you won't be able to put them back into those wrappers. Is it best to ask your dump banks for wrappers and put the boxed coins in them? Or how do you dump them? Into a coin machine?

Whenever I get rolls from my local bank (so far not in boxes), I try to re-roll them in the rolls I got them from. For pennies, regardless I put them into the coin machine. The bank only takes 5%, and I value my time more than that in regards to pennies.

A plus for re-rolling is that banks will often do a 1:1 with them for other rolls :)

My dump bank has a free coin machine, so thats what I use. In your case, ask both pickup and dump banks for rolls.

I have to re-roll. I haven't found any free coin counters in my area, so I generally do small quantities at a time (~$30 of nickels at a time)

My dump bank won't take rolls. I tried to deposit $17 worth of rolled cents when I first started and they said "ummm no, use the machine." It makes it a lot easier. I just put everything in ziplocks and dump em all at once.

I need to find a free machine in my area. But for now I'm fine with re-rolling anything aside from cents

My bank doesn't have a coin counter so I reroll the "mint wrapped" coins. First unrolling one end, dumping the coins out, look them over then put the whole stack back in. After I do the whole box I just fold over the excess wrapper ends and put them back in the box they came in. Neither of my dump banks have complained about it so far. This may not be the fastest way but I think it took me about a minute to unroll, search and reroll each roll. So it should only take me an hour to search a box of halves, if I'm on a roll. :)

Use a coin machine if possible. Less time! As long as the bank does not charge. If you like re-rolling thats cool too!
