Well i am sorry to say but you have a very worn and possibly cleaned 1953 canadian 5 cent coin not silver !! basically what i am trying to say is you have a nickel !!
thanks, i just wanted to know if it was worth any money i know its in bad condition i still thought it was maybe worth something because its a little old
Nope sorry to say but hey it still an older style they don't make them like that anymore i would hang onto it !! and in the span of coin collecting a 1953 is actually pretty modern !! But old does not mean valuable their are coins from the mid 1800's you can pick up for a few dollars on the market !
Still an interesting 53 nickel; value wise as the guys mention above due to the condition. Appears to be the near or close design variety (the 9 in the date & the leaf before '5 cents' are closer to the edge of the coin), also a SF (shoulder fold) based on the shoulder fold on the queen and the I font in DEI. There's also a water line variety (water lines in front of the beaver above the curved water line), this one appears to be 2 line but hard to be sure from the photo. The 3 line variety is rare.
