Here's a section that will be of interest to the Canadian members.Do you get Canadian 50c. coins in change,or do you spend them at all?

Although not Canadian, I have spent more than a little time north of the border. I've never even gotten a Canadian half in change.

Same experience as KLJ. I've been going 'north of the border' for the past 20 years.

I don't think they have circulated very much since the 50's or maybe early 60's. I wasn't that interested in coins until I started collecting a few years ago but I can't remember ever using 50¢ coins at all myself.

I did get one in change at the post office about a year ago and I kept it because I don't think many people would recognize it as "real money".

I've never seen one in Circ in my trips to Canada. I have all the other coins and the $1 and $2 coins but no 50c

I have never received one in change. I've spent a few buying little stuff like coffee and such, but almost always have received a suspicious glare in return. Nowadays I use them only as tip money.

I've actually found 1 while searching half dollars here in New England. To put this in perspective, I've search $1,000 FV religiously every week for over 2 years.
