Unopened packages, overflowing storage boxes, and a feeling like you will never catch up. What a great feeling.
Yep. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. In fact I am in exactly such a state of flux right now, post-FUN show acquisitions.
Now that's a LOT! :-o Yes, I can relate to the "just-can't-catch-up" feeling. Some months back I purchased a very large lot of uncleaned bronzes. It consumed many weeks of my spare time. Shortly before I got to the end of going through them, I realized it was close to becoming a dreaded chore rather than an enjoyable pasttime. That was a sad realization. But I finally finished! Yet... now I miss it. :-(
That's my one and only coin collecting rule, no unidentified group lots. I see some long weekends with cold beverages ahead for you.
That's how I have found some of my rarest coins. I frequently buy group lots because of one or two coins and then the rest get tossed into a jar.
Sneak them onto Oak Island and watch Gary Drayton and company go crazy with theories about Roman Legionnaires being on the island.
Sad to say that I have a couple thousand ancients (mainly BCE) and gold coins (mainly moderns) that are not catalogued. Promised myself that when I retired I would catalog everything. Nope. Not yet, and have an upcoming trip that is taking my time right now...
