Probably not, but nancye913's photo's are not noted for showing all the problems that the coin might have. However, I knew of none that had been reported as cleaned unless he stated that they were cleaned in his listing.
I can't say for sure, but to me they look re-colored. Almost like dellar's darkener was used on them. Again not an expert on this.
you can see lots of them here http://shop.ebay.com/nancye913/m.ht...&_sticky=1&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_sop=10&_sc=1. All of his pictures look nearly identical to this or redder when he says they have been cleaned.
Which "that" are you referring to? If you are asking why his pix all look the same, it is because of the way he take the photograph.
Iam taking a look at the coin, And the point iam trying to Make is the slight discoloration of the coin, And in itself Is this an indication of cleaning?? Looks like it could be?? I dont see any scratches atleast in This pic, That would be another indication of cleaning
Maybe it's camera but they look too much alike! I fact they look just like a 14-D that was on here yesterday. Could be the same shoe polish effect or that camera makes all coins look like. I wouldn't buy these coins in a million years as original untouched coins.
Do you guys see the dimple by the "D" that I see. Photo can be enlarged by increasing the screen size bottom right hand corner of your screen. I'll try to re crop it for better viewing. ? Yes the coins above looked modified in some way, I wouldn't say cleaned though.
My experience tells me if that are all the same color it is because they have been cleaned. Especially in photographs.
This is why I didn't have the coins shipped after I bought them. Full refund. They just look to good to my un-experenced eyes. Is it this way on all coins or mostly copper pennies? Most of my Morgans were in the slabs and graded. I took them out, but kept all the containers. Is this a good idea? I am learning, but as my wife says, it always cost me when I get interested in something.
I USED to have a lot to do with this seller. I know of NO instance where he sold a coin that was cleaned and it was not obviously stated as cleaned in his listing. That is from a lot of personal experience several years ago. Having said that, he does something with his photos to obscure the coin's flaws. If you receive a coin with a pretty good nick in it, you may not catch it in his photo to begin with, but when you go back and look closely, it is there. I don't know how he does it, but he does it. I would be reasonably sure that the coins you got were no bargain, but they have not been cleaned.
Rlm Cents, If not cleaned or rubbed with a darkening agent then are you suggesting a colored filter of some sort for his camara?
