Do these exist?

I am reading Dungeon, Fire and Sword by John Robinson about the Crusades, Saladin, The Mongolians...

Aside from what would be considered war crimes by both sides, some of the time, if a prisoner was of noble birth/was ransomable, the ransom was paid in gold. Particularly, the book references the gold dinar in a couple of ransoms.

Now, being that a gold dinar is 4.25 grams of 22k gold, do "gold dinars" in coin form exist from the kingdoms in the middle east of the period of 1095 - 1400-ish?

    THANKS!

Something tells me that Drusus meant $200-$400+, not $20000-$40000 :)
