Thought I would save these. The hundred really doesnt have a great serial number other than all the B's. I dont know paper money so what does that mean? And the 20 has a wierd serial number.

The first B means that it's Series 1999. The second B (and also the B2 below the serial number) means that it's issued by the the New York FRB district. And the third B means that they ran out of serial numbers ending with A.

The BB..B block is pretty common; 73.6 million were printed, and about one of every seven 1999 $100's have this letter combination. I wouldn't tie up a hundred bucks to save this one, myself, but whatever floats your boat.

Eh...now you've made me go and look this all up....

Looks like the AA..A combination was used on $20's, $50's, and $100's; the BB..B can be found on $5's, $10's, $20's, and $100's; and the EE..E was used on $20's. That's only eight different triple-letter blocks since the new-style serials started to be used. Might make a neat collection. And all of them had more than 50 million notes printed, so none of them ought to be too tough....

Find your self a repeater with eight 2's and you got yourself a prized winner that could go for hundreds on eBay.

I still give OP lots of credit for paying attention to his money. That's how I learned.

as for the twenty... I myself would not keep it.
4 in a row isnt too great for me, unless those are 4 zeros in the front ;)

i would let the $100 go, nothign special there, and hey - its $100 :D The $20 i might keep, depending on my mood. Some consider alot of 7's to be good luck, might help resale on this note to the right buyer - IF you are only interested in resale value. As collector value - that is up to you.

There are collectors that base collections off of any number of attributes. Those B's may or may not mean something to an individual. A general rule of thumb is to collect what you like or what you are interested in.
By doing this, you are assured to like the decisions you make and $$$$$ you put out will not be so tough to choke down!
Investment is a not so wise word in this glorified hobby of ours, although there are certain nots and coins that will hold a numismatic value over time.
