I got LP2's in change 2 days ago at a restaurant, in a bank run yesterday I got several in loose change, in sorting through the change of my friends business I got about 16 or so out of about 150 pennies, and I just went to Subway and 1 of the 2 pennies I got in change was a logsplitter. Though Log Cabins are easier to come by now, they were nearly imposible when they first came out, in vast contrast to the LP2s. Why is that? Why is the 2nd issue so much better distributed than the LP1s? Anyone have any thoughts?
Becaue the LP1 could not be distributed until the huge backlog of circulated coins that everyone had cashed in due to the bad economy had been distributed first. They had pretty much worked their way through that by a couple weeks or so before the LP2 came out so the LP1's started showing p and are now becoming more common. But the mintage of the LP1 was low so they are being distributed fairly quickly which is allowing them to get to the LP2 cents much faster than they could get to the LP1 cents originally.
According to this seller, LP2s are now sold out at the mint .... http://cgi.ebay.com/2009-FORMATIVE-...itu=SN%2BUCC%2BIC%2BUCI%2BSI%2BLM&otn=4&ps=58 -LTB
