Good afternoon! Something I would like to run by you fellows. I have several SBA dollar coins which are in good condition. I've posted this subject on coin chat forum as well. Anyway, I've noticed that out of all those coins, 4 stands out mainly because of their color. 2 from '79 and 2 from '80 , both with a P and D mint mark. Just curious on what could have caused the discoloration. Is it environmental or during mintage? Hoping to learn from all of you. Thank you
I'd guess, from your photos, that the top two 'brighter' coins were stored differently that the bottom coins. They're not 'errors' - not sintered, mis-annealed.
Thanks, I got those coins along with some half dollars, ike dollars, and Pres dollar from a smoke shop. Appreciate the response.
