I was wondering if it is possible to dip a coin on only one side. I like the reverse toning of this coin, but I'm not as into the obverse. If it can't be done, it's not a problem, I was just curious.
I'm sure you could figure out how to do such a thing if you were so possessed. Seems like the contrast between one super clean side and one heavily toned side would be detracting and lead to a split grade as well. I wouldn't do such a thing. I'm not too bothered by the tone on the obverse however I would suggest you to sell or trade this coin and get one with a quality, toned or otherwise, that you prefer in full. Just my 2¢s.
No I like the coin how it is, I was just wondering if it was possible. I know I made it seem like I didn't like the obverse in my first post but that is not the case. I was just wondering if it was possible.
You could soak an old Tshirt acetone or maybe some Ezest, sit the coin problem side down on it. Wala! One side only.
You could use a Q-tip to treat one side and not the other, but I wouldn't recommend it. You don't know what's under the toning and/or whether there will be evidence of where the toning once was. For example, areas of the toning might have etched into the surface of the coin and that unsightly area might become apparent when the toning is removed.
Actually "is" but I understand. I really don't mind if people express their opinions. Imagine what a dull forum this would be if nobody did.
I understand, but do you want dull, possibly inaccurate info based on opinion, or accurate information based only on referencable, verifiable facts?? (I know....both). Sorry for the interjection...I've had a somewhat hard time obtaining facts over opinion in the past. Just figure facts oughta come first.
