    looks like post mint damage. looks like it was in the ground for awhile. environmental damage.

    I concur...I have dug many dimes out of the ground that look similar.

    Yep. A dug dime. The silver ones come out of the ground nice and bright, under most soil conditions, but the copper-nickel clads like this turn grey or brown from soil mineralization over time.
