I found this 1985-P Dime in change, First thing that caught my attention was the off-color, Then when i looked at the edge the coin has reeding on the top and bottom clad. Athe the center copper layer is inset with reeding almost like the security reeding i have seen on some of the coin's from Hong Kong. Is this dime struck on a foreign planchet or is this a mint error? Anyone know?

Given the pitting on the face and edge, I'd say this dime took a swim in some acid. The acid would eat faster at the copper core than the outer clad layer.

Based on the pics - I would agree with lawdog.

    Yes. Chemically etched and eroded.
