Different type of error

Well I was able to get another bag of pennies tonight and found here is a 1984 unc penny. Not a double ear like I wish, but it appears to have these bite marks. Only thing is, those marks are coming outward, not inward. It's like there is two foreign pieces underneath the first layer. Remember - these look indented visually with the picture, but they are sticking outward, not inward, like there is a foreign object underneath. Also - keep in mind this is an unc red blazer. Very very little wear. Barely a touch of any wear or stickies. I'd actually put this coin in my BU jug, but if it's a legit error - well any ideas guys? The two close pictures are 10x and the other is a 5x ... Thanks :)

Wow, very awesome! I would gues a die gouge? Never seen one like that before. Some others on here can help you more than me, but, still very nice. :thumb:

Hmm..In 1984 I know that they were still struggling with the copper/zinc bonding process. Could it be an area where the copper is lifted from the zinc? I've never seen it look quite like that though, usually it looks more like a bubble trapped under the copper.

There is a slight curve to it, maybe from the rim of a cent in the dies causing a gouge.

I wonder if it is a bonding type of error. It's almost like a bubble that is straight. I'm not a big toucher of coins, but you can feel the ridge and it sticks out, not in. A bonding error would make sense. I'm just not confident on a die gouge, but I will defer to other's judgment as I'm not all that up on it. Searching is my specialty :) Not identifying. hehehe
