Hello everyone....I am new to paper currency collecting and have a very basic question I am sure. What would be the difference between say a "Series 2003" and a "Series 2003A".
The reason I am asking is I just purchased from BEP the new $5 uncut sheets both Series 2003 and 2003A.

Looking at them I cant tell the difference.

    Thanks in advance....

BTW..longtime coin collector here....recently into paper!

One has an "A" after the year, the other doesn't. :p

    Hey Roy...

I can see that..LOL is there a printing difference like in one of the 12 locations?? What does the "A" stand for???

    Thanks...

Means it has a different signature

Specificly the signatures of the Treasurer of the United States will be different. If they change the Secretary of the Treasury then the series date would have changed. (This is a fairly recent change in policy. Before 1981 the series letter changed whenever either signature changed, and the series date changed if BOTH signatures changed.)
