Difference between Commemorative proofs rated 60 and 70?

I was just looking at my Lincoln Chronicles set, noting that the birthplace cent seemed to be toning and just generally seeing a very well-struck set.

How on earth does a fellow figure whether he's got a 69 or 70 proof?

How would I know whether my Lincoln dollar rates a 69 or 70? I don't want to sell, I'm just wondering how an experienced collector judges his set is worth sending in to the grading agencies.

    You don't.
    That's why I won't pay those crazy premiums for a 70.

69 is just as attractive as a 70, IMO, and I'm with duke on paying crazy premiums for a 70. FYI, it's a stroke of luck, nothing more, that a modern proof hits a 70 DCAM or UCAM depending on whether you're an NGC or PCGS fan.

I agree, paying crazy money for "70" is just crazy..
