Are there tolerance limits for rotation? This is about 20 degrees difference between obverse and reverse, 2 photos. Vamworld shows only 1 described rotation for a 1901 of 75-85 degrees This coin shows all the identifiers for 1901-0 VAM-46, EXCEPT the mintmark on this coin is slightly right and tilted right
I thought around 40 as well. The reason for my question is that on the VamWorld page for 1901 dollars the administrator is asking for examples for analysis and says the minimum qualification is 15 degrees. The following is pasted from the page A Peace Dollar set will be built once additional varieties are discovered and confirmed. They are out there I have seen at least two in the wild. The benchmark to qualify is 15 degree CW or CCW rotation.
Yours isn't rotated. 12:00 on the obverse is half way between I and B, and on the reverse it's the E. Regarding normal rotation tolerances, 15° either direction is considered normal. Regarding the administrator of VW looking for rotated dies, I'm the administrator and I didn't put that comment there. The wiki can be edited by anyone with an account, and if the comment was made before August 2018, there's no way of knowing who first put it there.
OK, thanks for the helpful info. I didn't realise anyone could edit the site. Sorry for any inconvenience
