Just curious, what color is the grease used on the dies at the mint ?
    Does anyone know ?

I've just wondered, because in roll-searching I've found many coins with a clear grease-like substance on them.
It is similar to the silicon die-grease we use at work on saran extruders.

So, I'm wondering if the glomps on the coins that I find are from the mint.
    :)

It depends on after it is used or before it is used? Before it is refined or after it is refined? Assuming the Mint is attempting to save money, this grease is second hand grease left over from nearby garages that work on cars.
I really don't know and that is obvious.
As to the stuff you found on coins in rolls, I would wash my hands real well after touching that. Might have been a bank workers kid with a runny nose.

    LOL

Yes, I sure did wash my hands.

The thought of bodily fluids did cross my mind.

I noticed the same thing when I used to live in Las Vegas. I noticed it when I made the daily rounds to all of the hotel rooms to empty out the quarter boxes on the vibrating beds. I just figured it was KY....hmmm.. The Mint you say?
