Die deuteriation or doubling? (1962 P 1 Cent)

Haven't posted on here in a bit, but I found a pretty penny in a old roll from the 70's and I cannot tell whats happening here

Yep, that's from a deteriorated die. Poor thing had been worked to death.

(now I'm thinking about dies with deuterium bonded to them, maybe a bit of nuclear fusion to improve striking pressure...)

The way its running doesnt look like a scratch

 

It could be, but it looks more like a Lamination Flaw to me due to how straight
the line is running.
