Hello, I do quite a bit of roll searching on halves and I've noticed on P mint dates SPECIFICALLY what I think is die crack. See attachments... Starting from the point on his neck through to the reeded edge. So far found these on '96 and '98. Does it affect the value positively or negatively? Thanks, Laura And, here's another question: If in '96 the Philladelphia mint new there was a problem with Die Cracks, why does it affect one year after another...'96, '98, '99 the same place (die crack) the next year?
If you will notice, they usually start on the other end of the neck, go through the "R" on the base of the bust, come out the other end of the bust, then head for the rim. The most common die crack I've personally seen. I have quite a few myself. With Kennedys, the next most common I've seen is rim-"Y"-rim in a straight line (on Y of liberty) and rim-"T"-rim -- again straight line and T of liberty. I doubt they have much value to most collectors.
