Found these today, a 1972 D Triple Clipped Planchett & a Nice Die Clash 1973 D to both sides((only obverse shown)) View attachment 253795
Chris, I also noticed something funky going on with the clip. Unfortunately the area directly opposite of it is blurry in the pictures so I can't tell if the Blakesley effect is present or not. Better pictures will help us out. Keep up the hunt!
Yes, and the rim going into the clip appears ragged, but it shouldn't. When it supposedly goes through the upsetting mill, it should taper into the clip. Shouldn't it? It almost looks like someone used a pair of nippers on it. Chris
I will say they seem to be Authentic Clips...only because how the color of metal changes sides (as shown) Am I wrong? I think the 'raggedness' is just P.M.D. & the other 2 clips are small but also show the 'color change' & 'flat' to the touch.
The color change is not the issue. We need close-ups of the clip looking straight down at the obverse and the same for the reverse. Also, the Blakesley Effect that non cents mentioned would possibly show up along the opposite rim directly across from the clip. We do need clear photos, please. Thanks, Chris
